Redevelopment Facts: Bass Pro has signed a long term lease for the store formerly occupied by Lord & Taylor. Bass Pro will extensively renovate and expand the store and will convert it into a spectacular super store consisting of approximately 200,000 sq. feet specializing in fishing, hunting, camping & boating products. Excluding their flagship store, the Harrisburg store is expected to be the largest Bass Pro Shops store in the nation.
Boscovs has signed a long-term lease for the former JCPenney store. Boscovs is renovating the store and has leased approximately 185,000 square feet. This will be the 41st store in the Boscovs chain, which has sales in excess of $1 billion.
Hechts, an existing department store, recently made a long term commitment to the mall. Hechts is a division of the May Company.
In addition to the extensive interior upgrades of the 2 new anchor stores, Feldman Equities is planning a major upgrade to the following mall areas: a) the exterior façade fronting on will be completely renovated, (b) the entrances to the mall will be rebuilt and renovated, (c) lighting will be increased, (d) the entire parking lot will be resurfaced and re-striped and (e) the malls signage will be significantly upgraded.
Bass Pro is unusual because many of its shoppers travel from out of state and from long distances. Over 40% of Bass customers drive an hour or more to get to the store and a very high percentage of customers stay overnight at nearby hotels and motels to shop at the store. The typical Bass Pro store generates over 3,000,000 visitors per annum.
Boscovs combines a vast assortment of clothing including both traditional labels & leading designer names. Boscovs also features departments such as electronics, appliances, china & gifts with a state-of-the-art gift registry system, toys & candy. Chairman Al Boscov believes strongly in the traditional department store, where in one shopping trip, you can buy everything from school supplies to silverware, cosmetics to TVs.
Bass Pro will offer shoppers the area's largest selection of quality outdoor gear, clothing and accessories from top industry names and at value prices. A gift and nature center will also serve up a wide variety of outdoor-related items from lamps and dishes to bird feeders and furniture.
